October 1st, 2006 - Shihan Bob Markovich comes to the Toshikai Dojo of Ottawa

Congratulations to Till Kuendiger on his promotion to Shodan.

The Isshin Ryu karate-ka in Ottawa are still dizzy from all of the training completed with Shihan Markovich on the weekend of Sept. 30th.  Brown belts and black belts were given two seminars on the bunkai of Wansu and Chinto katas and Isshin Ryu's Bo-bo Kumite.  Shihan also taught a 3 hour Arnis seminar to some 20 local martial artists.

As Shihan indicated, Arnis is the sytem within your system.  His teachings blended very easily into self-defense situations with or without a stick.  On the Sunday afternoon, a black belt grading took place.  Congratulations to Till Kuendiger (originally trained in Windsor) for attaining his Shodan who not only had to test here in Ottawa but also had to complete an additional kumite component in Windsor back in August.  Till did a great job during his testing showing that he understands some very good bunkai applications.  Shihan ended his visit with our club by running our Sunday night class.  Shihan, who is now officially a senior citizen, demonstrated some of the most effective kicking combinations that we have ever seen.  Shihan, we were both honoured and humbled by your teachings.  Domo aregato! The

Toshikai Dojo of Ottawa is pleased to announce the release of its very own website.  Check out www.toshikai.ca to see it for yourself.  Please send your comments to the webmaster.  Sensei Tim Leonard would like to express his gratitude to Shane Hale (Nidan) and Rod Berek (Rokkyu) for their hours of effort to put it all together.

Note: I'm assured that there will be pictures in the gallery soon!
